Det hev ei rose sprunge
er nynorsknavnet på den katolske tyske julesalmen «Es ist ein Ros entsprungen» fra Köln 1599. Melodien er en tysk folketone fra 1400-tallet. Den ble på protestantisk side endret noe og arrangert av Michael Praetorius i 1609.
Det er denne utgaven Steinar Eielsen har bygget sitt arrangement for klarinettensemble på. Det er med sopranstemme både med norsk, tysk og engelsk tekst.
Steinar Eielsen
(født 26.09.1948 i Mandal) har sin komposisjonsproduksjon hovedsaklig knyttet til kor. Fra midten på 70-tallet frem til 1988 var han dirigent for både mannskor, kvinnekor og blandet kor i Sandnes, hvor han er bosatt.
Eielsen har mottatt en rekke priser bl.a. i korkomposisjonskonkurranser, og hedersbevisninger; bl.a. Sandnes kommunes Kulturpris og Rogaland Fylkes Kulturpris.
Høsten 2015 ble han tildelt Kongens fortjenstmedalje og i 2018 mottok han Korprisen fra Norges Korforbund.

Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming
is the Catholic German Christmas hymn "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen" from Köln in 1599. The melody is a German folk tune from the 15th century. It was changed somewhat on the Protestant side and arranged by Michael Praetorius in 1609. This is the edition that Steinar Eielsen has based his arrangement for clarinet ensemble on. This arrangement has the soprano voice with both Norwegian, German and English lyrics.
Steinar Eielsen
(26.09.1948) is a composer whose production is closely linked with choirs. From the middle of the 1970’s until 1988 he conducted male, female and mixed choirs in Sandnes, Norway, where he has his residence. He has also conducted various orchestras and instrumental ensembles.
Eielsen has received several prizes, among other things in choral composition competitions.
In 2018 he received “Korprisen” from The Norwegian Choral Association and in 2015 he was awarded the King’s Medal of Merit.
